Job Description
Position Overview


The Women’s Section Head Coach is responsible for the leadership, growth, and long-term development of the Women’s Section. This role ensures that all coaching aspects of the section operate effectively, creating a positive, inclusive, and fun environment in which players can engage in rugby at varying levels of experience.


The Club is seeking a coach who can provide strong leadership and direction for the Women’s Section during an important period of transition and development. The successful candidate will be expected to shape the future of the section both on and off the pitch, helping to build a sustainable, ambitious, and well-structured environment for current and future players.


The role requires someone who can combine engaging coaching with a clear understanding of how to grow and develop a women’s rugby programme over time. The Club is looking for an individual who can help establish clear standards, strengthen player development pathways, and contribute positively to the long-term progression of the Women’s Section.


The ideal candidate will be able to plan and deliver engaging, enjoyable, and challenging training sessions that cater to a range of abilities, while fostering player development and retention. They will work closely with players, the Club Committee and other volunteers to support the continued growth of the Women’s Section and ensure alignment with RFU governance and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Strategy
● Develop and implement a clear vision and strategy for the Women’s Section.
● Lead the rebuilding and long-term development of the Women’s Section following the move into Inner Warrior next season.
● Create a positive, inclusive, and enjoyable environment that welcomes new players into the game while encouraging experienced players to continue developing, challenging themselves, and contributing to the growth of the section.
● Create a sustainable structure that supports player recruitment, retention, and progression.
● Work collaboratively with the Club to shape the future direction of the Women’s Section.
● Plan and deliver engaging training sessions that cater to varying skill levels and include position-specific development.


Experience and Personal Capabilities Required
● Have the ability to coach in an engaging, inclusive, and motivating manner.
● Hold at least a Level 2 rugby coaching qualification.
● Previous experience coaching rugby (women’s rugby preferred but not essential for the right candidate).
● Demonstrate strong leadership skills and the ability to develop and communicate a clear vision.
● A passion for rugby and a commitment to the continued growth of the women’s game.
● Strong organisational and interpersonal skills.


Player Development and Section Growth
● Develop a robust and sustainable Women’s Section within the Club.
● Support the long-term growth of women’s rugby through recruitment, retention, and player development initiatives.
● Encourage players to focus on individual development and support the delivery of 1-to-1 sessions where appropriate.
● Promote player welfare and ensure compliance with safeguarding policies.
● Deliver a variety of skills sessions leveraging support from other sections and/or other players where appropriate.
● Establish clear standards, expectations, and development pathways for players within the section.


Time Commitment
● Plan and run pre-season & in-season training.
● Attend all fixtures and tournaments associated with Inner Warrior participation and future competition formats.


Administration
● Track player injuries and return-to-play processes.
● Support the completion of GMS registrations and other administrative requirements.
● Support compliance with RFU regulations and Club governance.
