Old Gravesendians RFC is looking for an assistant coach or assistant player coach 

Old Gravesendians RFC is looking for an assistant coach or assistant player coach with experience of coaching or playing in the backs. The role would support the head coach in delivering club training sessions on a Tuesday and Thursday evening, developing the skillset across the playing squad, and be regularly available to support the matchday squads on a Saturday during the season.

The role is being advertised on a voluntary basis – with the club supporting the development of the assistant coach, including relevant courses and training as required. The assistant coach would also be provided with club training gear to support their role.

The development of the assistant coach would be overseen and supported by the head coach (who is a highly qualified coach and coach mentor) – who will take an active role in their progression and development.

The ideal candidate would:

  • Have previous knowledge of the game, either in a playing or coaching capacity, ideally in a senior rugby environment as a back.
  • Be prepared to support the development of Old Gravesendians players – across all skill levels and abilities
  • Have the drive and ambition to support and at times lead club training sessions. 
  • Have successfully completed the England rugby coaching award or are looking to complete it in the next year.
  • Have successfully completed an England Rugby CPD 
  • Have a current first aid qualification (desirable not essential)
  • Have undertaken a DBS check – or be prepared to do so
