This course is for any volunteer, coach or match official who is working or has responsibility for children and vulnerable adults within rugby. Identifying best practice, it provides information and guidance on the responsibilities and support available for ensuring children and vulnerable adults are safeguarded appropriately.

There is a new Introduction to Safeguarding course. Everyone working in rugby union who is providing supervised or unsupervised intruction needs a basic understanding of what safeguarding and protecting children and young people means. They need to understand their responsibilities, recognise the signs of abuse and be aware of the reporting procedures. This eLearning course aims to support everyone working with children and young people in rugby union in England to better understand these principles to ensure we provide a safe, enjoyable rugby experience for all participants.

By the end of the workshop participants will be able to:
The workshop is four hours long and can be run as a single workshop or as a pair of two-hour workshops in the evening or at the weekend. The workshop will be organised by the Constituent Body Safeguarding Manager or the Rugby Development Officer for your CB and is free to Club Safeguarding Officers. At the conclusion of the workshop, each delegate’s RFU record will be updated to show the accreditation.
