Coaching Day with Eddie Jones for Spike Kenny from Old Alleynians RFC

Twelve coaches from across the country gathered at the home of London Irish RFC for a unique opportunity. A coaching day with Eddie Jones!

The volunteers, all nominated by their local rugby community, were met by England head coach Eddie Jones who led them in a coaching masterclass.

As well as giving some top tips from his experience at the elite end of the sport, Jones observed the coaches as they led their own sessions, providing feedback to each of them as well as taking part in a Q&A at the end of the afternoon.

For Jones, the day was another insight into the incredible level of commitment from England’s rugby volunteers.

“The way they are coaching is evidence of a lot of good work being done at the grassroots.

“If players love training and their coaching they are more inclined to keep playing the game. The skills and values players learn from their coaches are just so important.”

Spike Kenny, a coach from Old Alleynians RFC who was nominated for his dedication and enthusiasm towards Rugby development within the community was invited to the day and despite being on holiday at the time flew back from Portugal to take up this wonderful offer before flying back to Portugal to continue with his holiday.
