Kent girl Teya Ashworth has made her England debut for the Under 18’s against a strong Emerging Wales* team who eventually overcame a spirited England comeback to take the game with a 26-20 win at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.
Starting from the bench Teya joined the game after 20 minutes and made an immediate impact, securing loose ball and dominating at the breakdown. Teya is an Aylesford Bulls player and currently studying her A-levels at the Worthing College, juggling this with her place at the Harlequins Centre of Excellence. She is an excellent ambassador for the game and in particular for Kent having represented the country at both Under 15 and Under 18 levels.
We are all very proud of her achievements to date and very much look forward to her first full international cap.
*The Wales team was entitled “Emerging Wales” in order to allow coach Rowland Phillips to select some players who fell just outside of the U18 age bracket, allowing greater scope when it comes to judging the next generation of women rugby players in the country
