Kent U17 Boys run out as winners against Hampshire.

Kent U17 unbeaten this season.

Hampshire v Kent 29/05/2022 away at Petersfield RFC

Kent u17 concluded their spring campaign with a dominant performance against a strong Hampshire side at a warm and sunny Petersfield rugby club.

Kent started the match strongly with the forwards constantly breaking the gain line with strong carries led by Lucas Eule. The result of which was an early penalty in front of the posts, duly converted to take an early lead. The resultant kick off for Hampshire saw Kent struggle to deal with the restart, putting themselves under pressure. Quick thinking by the Hampshire fly half with a chip through saw Hampshire score and take a deserved lead. Not converted. If anything this only woke the Kent team up and they quickly took control of the half, using power through the forwards and vision and pace out wide once the defence narrowed. Kent scored three tries in the first half and a further penalty making the half time score 23-5.

The second half initially followed a similar pattern to the first, Kent power in the pack followed by skill, intensity and pace out wide. Hampshire were on the back foot and initially had no answer to the power Kent were displaying. Kent powered to a 40-5 lead with a further 3 tries and a conversion. Credit to Hampshire though because they fought back valiantly in the last quarter of the game. Ill-discipline saw a Kent player yellowed for an offside infringement and it was Hampshire that took full advantage. The last quarter saw Hampshire score three unconverted tries whilst Kent managed one more try

Final score Kent 45, Hampshire 20
