A confident win for Kent Under 20s

Jason Leonard Under 20 National County Championship

Kent RFU 76  Eastern Counties RFU 7

Kent entertained Eastern Counties at a very wintery Tunbridge Wells RFC on Sunday in their opening match of this season’s campaign. The fact that the match went ahead on the snow-covered pitch was a credit to the Tunbridge Wells Ground staff and all their helpers.

It was anticipated that this would be a close and tough encounter given that the two sides played out a hard-fought 21 all draw last season. It was not the case. Kent was too strong up front had good game management at halfback and too much pace out wide and so ran out convincing winners by 76-7.

Despite the difficult conditions Kent played with good skill and continuity which their visitors struggled to contain. A rampant Kent team ran in 12 tries, Aaron Grandidier 2, Billy Young 2, Bobby Bratton, Arbey Keheli, Zach Garratt, Sean Beckett, James Bowman, Matt Williamson, Charlie Knight and Tom Little all touching down. Captain Ollie Hobman landed 8 conversions

This was a solid squad performance with the bench players ensuring there was no let up on the pressure exerted on their Eastern Counties opponents.
