The whole of Kent Rugby was very much saddened by the news that Clive Putner has passed away, he was a true rugby man in all ways and a total gentleman. Along with his remarkable club service to Beccehamian RFC where his 67 years of playing and volunteering were highlighted by being club captain, and for many years as President and fixtures secretary in combined roles until very recently.
Clive was known as a ‘fixtures and leagues man ‘within the Kent RFU for over 20 years, mainly as fixtures and results coordinator for the Kent Metropolitan Leagues and was a committee member for all that time. He was also a Kent County vice president and a member of the Kent RFU Adult Competitions Sub Committee of which players and officials were forever grateful for his enthusiasm for running all the fixtures and leagues over such a long period.
