The Kent U16 girls’ team is formed from girls who are in school years 10 and 11 and to further qualify girls need to either play their rugby in Kent or live in Kent. They become part of the Foundation Programme to develop them as a player.
The season starts with assessments held in the early part of the season, and this process culminates with the selection of a squad of players who will receive twelve training opportunities throughout the season, from these sessions we will select players to play for the county against other counties in festivals
Applications are now open for players interested in joining the Kent Under 16 Girls Foundation programme (formerly the England Rugby Developing Player Pathway (ERDPP)) for the 2024-25 season.
The Foundation programme is part of the new Girls player pathway, for players who have the potential and ambition to progress further in their rugby. Players selected for the Foundation programme will attend 12 training sessions over the course of the season, complementary to club training, and have the opportunity to participate in a least one playing opportunity.
All players who wish to be considered for the Foundation programme must attend an assessment day. There will be two assessment days and players need to attend only one date. Both will take place at Aylesford Bulls RFC:
Players must be currently in school years 9 or 10 (so in school years 10 and 11 from September 2024) and eligible to play for Kent, meaning they meet at least one of the following criteria: live in Kent, play rugby at a club in Kent, and/or attend school in Kent.
All players must attend an assessment, even those who participated in the ERDPP last season.
This is a self-nomination process – nomination from a club or school coach is not required. We encourage players (or their parents) to discuss with their coaches if they are unsure whether they would be suitable for the programme. We are looking for players with both the potential and the ambition to progress further with their rugby.
Players must register in advance to attend an assessment. The cut-off date for registration is Sunday 16 June. Please complete the online form below to register.
Players will be allocated to one of the assessment dates and will have the ability to express a preference. If you wish to be considered for the Foundation programme but are unable to attend either assessment date, please complete the registration form and note this in the appropriate section. There will be at least one additional opportunity to be considered for the programme, likely in October.
