Honda Volunteer of the Year Awards

In collaboration with England Rugby and Honda, Kent Rugby is delighted to announce that nominations for the Honda Volunteer of the Year Awards 2024 are open!

The Honda Volunteer of the Year Awards will help to recognise and celebrate volunteers for their achievements and efforts, both on and off the field, over the last 12 months. This opportunity to recognise volunteers has been made possible thanks to the partnership with Honda and their support for volunteering in the grassroots game through the Honda Volunteer Recognition Programme.

This year you can nominate either an individual, or a group of volunteers, across one or more of the following categories:

• Unsung Hero

• Game for All

• Connecting the Community

• Game Changer

Speaking about the awards, RFU President Rob Briers said: “I am delighted that through the Honda Volunteer Recognition Programme, we can recognise the exceptional work that has gone into supporting Rugby Clubs over the past year. There are so many outstanding volunteers who have really made a difference and the Honda Volunteer of the Year awards provides a great opportunity to say thank you.”

Rebecca Adamson, Honda UK said: “Honda was built upon the Power of Dreams, that same challenging spirit can be found in abundance at local Rugby clubs up and down the country. Honda UK is proud to help recognise the volunteers who work tirelessly to support their local Rugby communities.”

Nominations close on Friday 16th February (17.00).

TOP TIPS

We’ve put together some top tips to consider when writing the application:

  1. Check the summary for each of the awards to ensure you are nominating for the right one and make sure you consider the criteria for that award category
  2. Nominations should include evidence to support and illustrate the impact and achievements of the volunteer or team of volunteers in the award category, and where possible be supported by facts and figures
  3. Keep to the word limit and ensure the information provided is concise and relevant. With a word limit of 250, this could mean that some answers are provided in bullet point format
  4. The awards are focused on activity which has taken place over the past 12 months (1st January – 31st December 2023)
  5. Once you have drafted an application, it may be worth asking someone else within the club to have a look over the application
